Our Story
What is WitchFriends?
WitchFriends is exactly what it sounds like: a group of friendly Witches. We are primarily a social group for people who have interest in practicing Witchcraft together. The practice of Witchcraft is personal and unique to each practitioner. Some Witches follow a specific tradition, such as Wicca, while others do not, There is no universal shared belief or practice among all witches, and there is also none at WitchFriends. Every Witch is welcome in our circle, regardless of tradition or belief system. All that is required is to treat one another with kindness and respect.
WitchFriends got started on the website "MeetUp" in November of 2024. The "Wiccan Community Vancouver" group grew over time, and at the start of 2025, we took on the name "WitchFriends" to make it clear that all Witches were welcome.
Every month we plan a social gathering to explore a different aspect of the craft. For example, in February of 2025, we had an evening focused on spells for self love. In March, we had a night exploring herbalism. There are endless ways to be a Witch and each month we'll learn a little more about one of them together, Check out the Events Page for more details about our upcoming gatherings.
What to expect at a WitchFriends gathering?
While there is no telling just what might happen when practicing Witchcraft, WitchFriends meetup's typically follow a format that makes it a little easier for us all to enjoy ourselves:

ICEBREAKER: We introduce ourselves and begin to get to know each other.

ACTIVITY: Sometimes related to the theme, sometimes not, Witchfriends activities are always unique and informative.

NEGATIVE ENERGY REMOVAL: To prepare for casting a circle and calling the corners, we do an exercise to remove any negative thoughts or energy that might be lingering.

CIRCLE CASTING & CORNER CALL: Everyone in attendance participates, no spectators

SPELLWORK OR DIVINATION: Done inside the holy energy we raise together in the circle

CIRCLE CLOSING: We bid farewell to the elemental guardians!
Each WitchFriends event has a mix of people who have been attending since we started in 2024, and people who are just joining in for the first time. Each participant comes from a different level of experience and understanding; You do not necessarily need to be a Witch to participate, as long as you are respectful and open minded, you are welcome. Typically, the venues we use don't provide food or drinks, and are wheelchair accessible.
